Investment Criteria

Sanlab Ventures initially looks at every company to see if they meet the criteria that we have established for investing. Below is the framework for the first internal discussion we will have about your company. It is important that these items are addressed when you submit an executive summary of your business plan to Sanlab.

• Is there a prototype or "1.0" version of the product already available? If not, when will it be available?

• Is there a clear understanding as to why this product will be successful?

• Does the product offer something that is pushing the envelope of technology to do something new or in a completely revolutionary manner?

• Is the market potential for this product absolutely huge?

• Do the founders understand their customers? Will their customers understand them? Is it perfectly clear who would write a check to this company and what they would get in return for their check?

• Could this company get to the next fundable event with the amount of money they are raising in this seed round?

• Does the company have a technically competent core team in place that will provide technical leadership for at least the next 12 - 24 months?

• Can the company exhibit how and when they are going to be profitable?

• Finally, and the answer to this really needs to be "yes", can the CEO stand up and make a 15 minute presentation that clearly articulates exactly why we would want to invest in this company.
